The All American Double Rifle - B. Searcy & Co.
The double rifles used for hunting dangerous game have a lot of mystique associated with them. They are big, kick like a mule and are very expensive. Most will never hold one – and only a very few will shoot them. Traditionally, they have been the product of bespoke British and German gunmakers. There is only one double gun maker who makes them entirely in the United States – and he happens to be a good friend of the folks at GaugeMate.
Butch Searcy operates his business out of Boron, California and Sturgis, South Dakota. He’s been making dangerous game rifles (doubles and bolt actions) for almost 20-years. His double rifles (mostly .470 Nitro Expresses) are used by 43 professional hunters in Africa. They are both beautiful and “tough-as-nails.” Such firearms aren’t in the center of the gun control debate – so Butch didn’t need to “get involved.” But he did! He has donated four-rifles to the NRA to raise funds to protect our Second Amendment rights. |
